About the 568 Presidents' Group

Statement of the Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee

On behalf of my colleagues on the Technical Committee, I am pleased to join President Morton O. Schapiro of Williams College, Chairman of the 568 Presidents' Group, in welcoming you to our website.

This site has been created to serve as a resource for those seeking information on the activities of the 568 Presidents' Group and to offer participating institutions a forum for discussing both governance and need analysis issues related to the continuing development and maintenance of the Consensus Approach to Need Analysis. As noted in the background section of the Guidelines Manual, the Consensus Approach to Need Analysis will continue to evolve over time.

The Technical Committee is charged with managing this evolution on behalf of the 568 Presidents and the financial aid officers who serve on our Need Analysis Council. The Technical Committee is active throughout the year conducting its work via conference calls, emails, surveys of participating institutions, and the occasional meeting. Recommendations developed by our Committee are reviewed and approved by the Need Analysis Council before being given final endorsement by the 568 Presidents' Group Steering Committee prior to their implementation.

The names and email addresses of the members of the 568 Technical Committee are available. As the designated representatives of the 568 Group, we are eager to include the views and concerns of all our members in our various discussions and we urge you to be in touch with us regularly.
